Dr. Seth Thompson is a board-certified psychiatrist with an expertise in Mood Disorders, Bipolar Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, PTSD, ADHD, and Addictive Medicine. He completed his medical residency training at East Tennessee State University Quillen College of Medicine where he had the opportunity to train with a diverse population of both providers and patients. He continues to reside in the eastern portion of Tennessee providing care for patients from a large swath and catchment area of southwest Virginia, southeast Kentucky, West Virginia, eastern and middle Tennessee, and northwest North Carolina. Dr. Thompson believes that when humans beings experience trauma or severe life stressors, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel and become unmanageable. His passion is bringing healing to those who have been through a traumatic/stressful experience, those struggling with mental health disorders, and/or those struggling with addiction whether it be to food or other substances. He works with his patients to find healthy perceptions of themselves and strengthen their relationships so they can know themselves as a peaceful, complete, whole, and safe self. He achieves this through multiple modalities including, but not limited to, individualized medication management, psychotherapeutic interventions, collaborative care with the patient’s primary care team, other specialized providers as needed, and family members. He knows no single approach is right for every individual and consistently works to provide individualized care through evidence based practices.
Dr. Thompson is committed to the well being of his patients and his goal remains to provide a positive and lasting impact on their lives.
